4th of June: Light a candle in your heart, click to download PDF 点亮你心中的烛光 (Light a candle in your heart)
[A massive clampdown on all public airing of the issue of the 6/4 Incident, or Tiananmen 1989 Massacre, is now in force in mainland China, including fresh arrests and a total news blackout. Therefore supporters of chinaworker.info have circulated the following appeal on internet forums, urging youth and workers to mark the occasion even if open manifestations and collective actions are not possible].
20 years have passed,
Do you know June 4th?
Do you still remember June 4th?
There were a group of youth,
Going onto the streets full of idealistic hope,
Thinking that they can bring back the light.
In the darkness, the silence is as quiet as death,
They came back with wounds all over.
Blood stains were left where they were,
As well as hopes that have died.
On that night, light a candle in your heart,
Though we can not sing, nor speak,
We have not forgotten.
Remember them,
Not just for what has already past,
But also for what is still to come.

Chinaworker calls for all friends who care about the future and fate of China to join in the movement of "lighting a candle in your heart".
At midnight on Thursday, 3 June,
Those friends at home, please turn off all of your lights, light up your candles, and remain silent for 1 minute.
Those friends who are outside in your cars, please stop your vehicles, turn on the emergency lights, and remain silent for 1 minute.
(If possible, please also listen quietly to relevant commemorative songs)
Light a candle in your heart, we are at one with History!
In order to commemorate the 20th anniversary of June 4th, and to remember our forebears and encourage those still to come, in order to really realise political democracy and economic equality for the Chinese working class, chinaworker (chinaworker.info) specially created a book called "Tiananmen 1989: Seven Weeks that Shook the World" (PDF version in both Chinese and English) for all friends interested in the issue to freely download. For obvious reasons, our website cannot be opened in mainland China. All friends who are interested in our book please send your email to cwi.china@gmail.com to request a free copy [Readers, please note, this offer only applies to mainland China, due to the impossibility of circulating sensitive printed matter].
This book is divided into two parts: 1) Analysis of the movement in 1989 from a leftist perspective by Vincent Kolo and Chen Mo of chinaworker; 2) The eyewitness account by Stephen Jolly of the Committee For A Worker's International (CWI) who went to Tiananmen Square as a political representative from the end of May right to the massacre itself. This book for the first time translates his account "Eyewitness in China -- Tiananmen Square" into Chinese for all of our readers.
Who once said: Our thirst shall end here,
The running water shall end here?
Who once said: The blowing wind shall end here,
The burning fire shall end here?
Who once said: Our love shall end here,
Our hatred shall also end here;
Who once said: Our people shall end here,
Shall end here?.
